Vedem Underground is a feature documentary that pays tribute to the courageous, heartbreaking and ultimately victorious legacy of Vedem, the only underground magazine to be regularly produced by prisoners inside a Nazi concentration camp. Started in 1942 by a group of about 40 teenage boys, Vedem (“In the Lead”) was produced on a weekly basis for almost two years and totaled about 800 pages, revealing the truths, tragedy and triumphs inside the walls of the Terezin Ghetto. The film uses interviews of surviving Vedem contributors who risked their lives writing for Vedem, as well as historic and contemporary footage of Terezin, animation, and a selection of articles, art and poetry that appeared in Vedem’s 83 issues. As of early 2015, the film was in post-production and will accompany the traveling museum exhibition Vedem: The Underground Magazine of the Terezin Ghetto.
